Dr Hemp Botanicals – Lactuca Virosa and Stevia Rebaudiana potted plants

Dr Hemps Botanicals – A range of Herbs & Plants both dried and live. Including Lactuca Virosa and Stevia Rebaudiana.

Dr Hemp is very proud to present our own range of botanical specimens, in this case Lactuca Virosa and Stevia Rebaudiana. We use a handful of  specially selected growers from around the UK to grow up and ship our specimens.

Liz and her son, our experts from out in Wales have plenty of experience in growing organic botanical specimens. They have really done us proud in 2012 with some fantastic examples of Lactuca Virosa and Stevia Rebaudiana. They are also about to bring in some Horny Goat Weed, and have set off some Peyote. you can be assured that they too will be of the highest quality.

A plant related to common lettuce (L. sativa), and is often called Wild Lettuce

Lactuca Virosa is a plant in the Lactuca (lettuce) genus, ingested often for its mild psychotropic effects.

Liz has created an especially strong Lactuca Virosa strain here. When ingested the effects are often described as being similar to that of opium. This plant comes ready to roll, get it planted out as quickly as possible as they are really wanting to leave their pots!

As if to prove how solid this plant is, Liz had an example eaten by a slug, but within a few days it was growing again – not that similar to garden lettuce after all!

The species Stevia Rebaudiana is commonly known as sweetleaf.

Stevia is widely grown for its sweet leaves. it can be used as a sweetener and sugar substitute.

Yet again we can thank the US Government for controlling the use of Stevia Rebaudiana They banned it in the early nineties, unless it was labelled as a supplement, but then finally in 2008 they allowed it (Rebaudioside A Extract) as a food additive. The popularity of this plant is heading in one direction – upwards! In 2011 Stevia was approved by the EU for human consumption, and it is pretty sure that its use will be on the increase over the coming years.

Growing Tips - Always keep moist and in a light place but not in direct sun or it wilts very quickly.  Would suggest as an indoor plant by a window but not south facing.

Lactuca Virosa and Stevia Rebaudiana potted plants are the first examples to come from Liz & Son, Potseeds.co.uk will be putting further examples on line soon.

Salvia Divinorum

The trip plant of the gods, Salvia Divinourm

Salvia Divinorum is the most infamous member of the Sage family, and it is true to say that it is actually an endangered species. It is a cultivar – this means it can only be maintained by taking cuttings and growing them on. If left to its own devices, the plant rarely, if ever produces seeds. If by some fluke it does produce a seed, the odds are stacked against it germinating. In the wild it would fall over and divide its roots to carry on. It is widely regarded to have gone extinct in the wild. So if you decide to take on the challenge of growing one, you are helping maintain a true horticultural miracle plant.

Salvia Divinorum has many other names, Diviner’s Sage, Ska María Pastora, Seer’s Sage and the Trip Plant of the Gods. The plant itself is a native species of Mexico, and was often used by Shamans to allow them to communicate with their gods. It is also a medicinal herb that can be used for curing a range of ailments. Diarrhea, anemia, headaches and rheumatism to name a few.

Please remember that if you do choose to purchase one of these Salvia Divinorum Cuttings from us at Potseeds, you can’t order any other goods from us at the same time. We use our dedicated growers to get them to you in the best possible condition. (You can always start a seperate order don’t forget, if you just can’t resist some Cannabis Seeds!)
