Welcome to the Pot Seeds cacti nursery, selling exotic cacti since 2002.
The use of hallucinogenic cacti, such as peyote or San Pedro, has been used for thousands of years by the native peoples of the Americas. The main active ingredient is mescaline, which Aldous Huxley famously wrote about in his book, The Doors of Perception, though they have been also been found to have other psychoactive alkaloids. The band The Doors took their name from Huxley's book.
The Peyote cacti is probably the most well known of all hallucinogenic cacti, it has the highest concentrate of Mescaline and is the slowest growing cacti in the world, taking up to 10 years to grow to the size of a small apple.
The San Pedro or Peruvians also has a history of shamanic usage dating back to Peru for over 3000 years; this is the fastest growing cacti and also the tallest reaching heights of twenty feet.
All cacti products sold as ornaments or as botanical/horticultural herbarium specimens only. Not for human consumption. Any information given is for historical context to learn about these rare plants and is widely available on the web.
Live potted cacti - potted plants, peyote, San Pedro, Peruvianus.
As well as making an interesting house plant, certain cacti from parts of South America are ideal for making pot pourri. The outer tissue is cut into small pieces and then dried, creating some wonderfully vibrant green textures, which can be arranged as you see fit.
